Senior Research Scientist-Protein Sciences

This position is responsible for managing the protein production group developing, planning, and executing research and product development projects
This is a laboratory-based position to develop methods of expression, purification and biochemical characterization of protein-based reagents
This involves experiments related to design, expression, purification and biochemical characterization of new proteins
Prepares experimental procedures (SOPs), maintains laboratory notebooks and prepares procedures, batch/test records
Troubleshoots and optimizes experiments
Understands, follows, and enforces laboratory safety precautions to ensure compliance with company safety policies
Up to 70 % of the day may be spent at a laboratory bench

PhD/MS with experience in protein expression, purification and characterization
Excellent management, planning, and organizing skills with the ability to manage multiple and often changing priorities and issues of varying complexity, while meeting time-sensitive deadlines and deliverables
Strong scientific fundamentals with a protein biochemistry background
Leadership skills with demonstrated knowledge and understanding of staff management practices and processes
Purify tagged and native proteins using AKTA systems and classic column chromatography (affinity, IEX, gel filtration)
Characterize purified proteins using different analytical techniques (SDS-PAGE, Western blot, LC/MS)
Excellent written and oral skills
Proven ability to manage and design experiments, troubleshoot, interpret, and report data
A highly analytical mind, attention to detail, and organization skills are critical
Collaborative and proactive attitude with excellent written and oral communication skills
